Mission & Impact
Since 2012, CCC Health & Wellness has supported California’s 116 community colleges in advancing student mental health, wellness, and basic needs through high-quality technical assistance, training, and resource development. Our mission is to equip campus professionals with the tools, knowledge, and support systems they need to foster whole-person wellbeing, helping students not only stay in school but succeed and thrive.
We provide a wide range of resources on cccstudentmentalhealth.org, including research-based toolkits, tip sheets, implementation guides, policy templates, outreach materials, and live and on-demand webinars. These offerings are designed for faculty, staff, administrators, and peer leaders and have helped colleges build more responsive and sustainable approaches to student support.
Our collective work seeks to address growing mental health concerns and basic needs insecurity across the system. While Education Code section 76355 permits the use of a portion of the student health fee to support mental health services, many colleges face limitations in funding, staffing, and capacity. CCC Health & Wellness helps bridge those gaps by providing no-cost, accessible resources to all colleges, regardless of fee structures or institutional size.

Additionally, our support has expanded in tandem with new investments in Basic Needs Services Centers. Since 2021, colleges have received targeted state funding to establish or strengthen these centers, which serve as centralized hubs for food, housing, mental health referrals, transportation assistance, financial support, and more. CCC Health & Wellness plays a key role in supporting the staff who lead these efforts, ensuring they have the practical tools and training needed to integrate wellness into every aspect of student support.
Through this integrated approach, which combines mental health, wellness, and basic needs, CCC Health & Wellness continues to promote equitable access to essential services and advance the Chancellor’s Office Vision 2030 goal of ensuring every student has the support needed to thrive.
