East Los Angeles College SafeZone Train-The-Trainer Certification Program

This NO-COST program was created to develop confident, knowledgeable and effective SafeZone trainers, who can work towards developing and maintaining environments that are culturally competent and supportive to LGBTQ students, faculty and staff, as well as straight/cisgender allies on their college campuses. This is an interactive 8-hour course, which includes activities, small group discussions, and opportunities for practicing skills as educators. Participants who complete the course will have an increase in knowledge of homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism and the affects that they have on an individual’s mental health, information and tips on how to educate others to create SafeZones and guidance on offering support and where to go for additional help and resources.
